Boom, Voigt, Leipheimer dominate Paris-Nice opener

Former cyclocross rider Lars Boom won Sunday’s challenging opening-day time trial at the 68th Paris-Nice. His cyclocross skills must have come in very handy on the tough course.

On a hilly course replete with cobblestones, wind and cold weather, the 2008 world cyclocross champion blasted to victory ahead of Jens Voigt and Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack) in the 8km prologue in Monfort-l’Amaury.

Levi Leipheimer jaming on singletrack

It seems like Lance Armstrong is not the only one that jumps on a mountain bike and blasts through the woods for some cross training. In this video, Levi Leipheimer is ripping up some California singletrack in the off season. For a roadie…he really has some trail riding skills as you can see with some small root drops and switchbacks. The speed he is carrying through the woods is pretty impressive as well.

The trail looks really fun too,  keeps going and going…….
