Levi Leipheimer wins the Leadville 100

Levi Leipheimer from Team Radioshack won Colorado’s Leadville 100 on Saturday, knocking more than 12 minutes off of the old record and finished about nine minutes ahead of Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski. Todd Wells finished 3rd with six-time winner Dave Wiens in fourth. The Leadville 100 is a 100 mile (160.9 K) epic mountain bike race within the high altitude mountains and valleys of Leadville, Colorado.

Armstrong is the defending champion having won last years race in a record winning time of 6 hours, 28 minutes, 50 seconds.

Johan Bruyneel said RadioShack will rally its forces around Levi Leipheimer after Lance Armstrong lost all hope of winning the 2010 Tour de France. Armstrong lost 11:45 after a crash at the base of the Col de la Ramaz knocked him out of contention, but Leipheimer kept RadioShack’s podium options alive after he finished safely with the elite group of 13.

Tour de France champion Alberto Contador may have given fans a shock when he was kept in check Thursday as the Critérium du Dauphiné soared upwards on the fourth stage to Risoul ski station.

Floyd Landis admits to doping

Floyd Landis, the American cyclist whose 2006 Tour De France victory was nullified after a positive doping test, has sent a series of emails to cycling officials and sponsors admitting to, and detailing, his systematic use of performance enhancing drugs during his career. The emails also claim that other riders and cycling officials allegedly participated in doping, including seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong.

Darren Lill wins Gila final stage with Leipheimer taking the overall

Darren Lill (Fly V Australia) won the final stage of the SRAM Tour of the Gila on Sunday, after attacking his breakaway companions 16 miles from the finish and riding alone to finish six seconds ahead of a chase group.

Levi Leipheimer (Mellow Johnny’s) came in a few seconds later, securing his second overall win at the New Mexican stage race.
