Tyler has his day in PE

Team Bonitas’ Tyler Day notched up his first victory in a national classic when he took line honours in the 26th The Herald VW Cycle Tour in Port Elizabeth on Sunday morning.

Day, tipped by team captain Malcolm Lange as a dark horse before the race, outsprinted a breakaway group of 12 riders after 105km on an overcast and blustery day in the Friendly City.

Jennie Stenerhag and Moolman Welgemoed victorious at Die Burger Cycle Tour

Daikin-GU ended the cycling season on a high note, following team captain Moolman Welgemoed’s victory at Die Burger Cycle Tour today. Rob Quinn (RSAWEB) came in 2nd with Alastair Davies (Daikin-GU) 3rd.

The first lady to cross the finish line was Swedish cycling sensation Jennie Stenerhag (Alpha Pharm), thereby securing her fourth consecutive win at Die Burger Cycle Tour. Veteran Cathy Carstens (Token) and Maroesjka Matthee (Intellibus) finished in second and third place respectively.

Jennie was recently crowned the winner of the Alpha Pharm series in 2009 and enjoyed notable victories in the Cape Argus Cycle Tour and the Swedish Championship.
