JoBerg2C day 4 – Into KZN we went
30 Apr 2012, written by Rory 0 CommentsWow, what an amazing day of riding, one I will not forget for a long time. It was tough, no doubt, 122 km with 2000m of climbing, this after 125 km yesterday. This morning saw some weary riders lining up for what was going to be the longest day of this years Joberg2C. Another mass start in a chilly 7 degrees behind the Massey Ferguson tractor saw us riding 3-4km of neutral zone before the racing started.
JoBerg2C day 3 – Heading to Sterkfontein Dam
29 Apr 2012, written by Rory 0 CommentsThere was some nervous energy around the breakfast tables this morning, with 125km looming ahead making day 3 the longest day distance wise of the entire JoBerg2c. And to make things a little worse, it was freezing in Reitz, proper freezing. Another mass start again saw us following a huge Massey Ferguson tractor for a 8km’s of neutral riding until the racing started. I had made a conscious decision to start slower and have a fairly chilled day.

03 Nov 2011, written by Rory 0 CommentsDuring the past few years, pro-elite mountain-bike racing in South Africa was dominated by only a handful of riders.
Burry Stander, Kevin Evans, David George, Max Knox and Philip Buys won about 90% of the major races among them.
However, this domination seems to be about to end.
Buys comes in 2nd at Illovo Eston
10 Aug 2011, written by Rory 0 CommentsPhilip Buys (Garmin-adidas) got snookered by a cramp in the deciding moments of the Illovo Eston Marathon (60km) in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday (7 August).
As a result he finished second behind Brandon Stewart (Itec Connect). Burry Stander (Specialized) finished third.
Buys was not despondent because of the result.
“Brandon deserved to win. He was the most aggressive rider throughout the race and I had to play catch-up most of the time.
