Neethling Turns Up the Heat at National DHI in Jonkershoek
Jonkershoek Nature Reserve in Stellenbosch was abuzz with activity as the country’s top downhillers descended on the valley to take part in the first national DHI of the season on Sunday 10 February.
As with the cross-country racing the day prior, wet conditions were the order of the day, although this did not put a dampener on the action that was delivered by the 95 entrants.

Odendaal Nails Mankele Downhill Track to Secure Championship Victory
A small but quality field assembled at Mankele MTB Park on the outskirts of Nelspruit, Mpumalanga on Sunday 22nd July to contest the SA National MTB Downhill Championship.
The absence of defending champion Andrew Neethling, who races for the international Giant Factory Off-Road Team, left the championship run wide open, and race day favourites Stefan Garlicki and Hayden Brown were keen to derail overall National MTB Series winners Tiaan Odendaal’s hope for the championship title as well.

Big Guns Get to Grips With Course for MTB World Cup
The world’s best mountain bikers spent a scorching hot day getting to grips with the cross country and downhill courses on the first official training day for the 2012 RockyRoads UCI MTB World Cup Pietermaritzburg that starts today (Friday).
Local downhill star Andrew Neethling posted the second fastest run in the afternoon time straining session, four seconds quicker than world champ Danny Hart, with the day’s fastest time being laid down by Frenchman Cedric Garcia, while the fastest woman on the day was Sabrina Jonnier (FRA).

Neethling Ready to Raise his Game at Pietermaritzburg MTB World Cup
South African downhill star Andrew Neethling made big strides in the UCI MTB World Cup in 2011, including claiming a first ever podium finish at Windham in the USA.
He’s looking to up the ante in 2012, starting at the RockyRoads UCI MTB World Cup Pietermaritzburg.

Rocking Start for SA XCO & DHI Series
Venues have been confirmed for the remaining South African cross-country and downhill races as part of the SA national series.
Following a fantastic start at the first round in Cape Town at the weekend, which raised the bar in terms of technicality, organisation and crowd support, organisers will no doubt rise to the challenge to deliver an equally high standard in all aspects of the remaining events, offering the competitors and supporters optimum value.

Needles Set to Spoil the Garlicki, Pottie Showdown
The Western Province downhill mountain bike community is gearing up for their provincial championships, which will be taking place on the popular Contermanskloof downhill track, near Durbanville on the 3rd and 4th December 2011. This event will crown the 2011 Western Province Downhill Champion across all the categories.

SA Show Great Tenacity in Terrible Conditions at World Mountain Bike Champs
The 2011 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships have come to an end with yet another spectacular display of mountain bike racing from athletes all over the world, with only one chance of having the perfect race run to earn the prestigious title of MTB World Champion.
South Africa had a very strong presence in amongst a quality line-up of international mountain bikers in the cross-country and downhill disciplines; four-cross and trials were also part of the event schedule.

World Mountain Bike Champs Under Way in Switzerland
The 2011 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships kicked off yesterday (Wednesday 31 August) with the junior women cross-country (XCO) and the national XCO Team Relay at the Swiss resort of Champéry.
Approximately 840 athletes from 49 countries have entered for the mountain bike races, which sees nearly all the big names that have dominated the season so far battle it out for the ultimate glory: the World Champion’s rainbow jersey.
