CAPE TOWN – We know carbon – This is the mantra of new cycling distributor Velo Sports who’s premium brand SwiftCarbon bikes and accessories are being launched to the SA cycling market this week.
Founder of SwiftCarbon International, Mark Blewitt, was the SA National Team Captain and an International Professional cyclist in the 90’s. Mark rode for French and Portuguese Professional teams during his cycling career and then went on to study Industrial Design. Merging his passion for cycling with the urge to create faster bikes using innovative Carbon techniques saw him setup SwiftCarbon bikes. SwiftCarbon is based in Taiwan and has been selling a full range of road, time trial and mountain bikes to the European and US markets. After meeting with Velo Sports in 2010, the company was awarded exclusive distribution rights to the SwiftCarbon range. Mark Blewitt says: ” When it comes to value for money for a performance bike you cannot beat SwiftCarbon. You can try compare weight, spec and visual appeal with any other brand but you will be paying at least 25% more.”
Team RSAWEB, a new professional road team based in Cape Town are riding the SwiftCarbon R838 iSP road bike. They have had some great results including winning the sub vets SA road and TT title as well as a 2nd at Die Burger cycle race. Team captain Robert Quinn had the following to say about the bike: ” I have ridden many bikes over the years on many pro teams but the stiffness of the R838 is unmatched and gives me the most confidence “. Velo Sports, together with RSAWEB are also sponsoring two teams for the Cape Epic. The riders will be on the Gritt Dual suspension bikes kitted out with SRAM XX.
Another innovation is that the full SwiftCarbon range can be bought online at www.swiftcarbon.co.za or from leading bike stores. Payments can be made online using your credit card or via EFT. Bikes are shipped anywhere in South Africa or can be collected in Cape Town.
SwiftCarbon bikes will be on show at the Cape Argus Lifestyle Expo this week at stand number M43.
