Old Mutual joBerg2c builds N3 of single track
10 Apr 2012, written by Rory 0 CommentsOrganisers of the Old Mutual joBerg2c have announced a groundbreaking partnership with the N3 Toll Concession (N3TC), which will see them creating the “N3 of single track” over the next three years.
The nine-day mountain bike race, which starts on April 27, runs virtually parallel to the toll route from Heidelberg to the KwaZulu-Natal midlands before continuing on to finish on the coast at Scottburgh.

Searing heat in the opening few days was replaced by wet and near freezing conditions into Grabouw, with hypothermia not uncommon, even amongst the most seasoned of participants.

2012 Absa Cape Epic stage 7 report
02 Apr 2012, written by Rory 0 CommentsThe seventh and final stage took riders from Oak Valley/Elgin to Lourensford Wine Estate over a distance of 64km with 1 350m of climbing. The 36ONE-Songo-Specialized team of Burry Stander and Christoph Sauser walked away with top honours as overall winners of this year’s exciting Absa Cape Epic, following their victory of last year.
EVANS AND GEORGE FIGHT BACK ON EPIC STAGE 6
31 Mar 2012, written by Rory 0 CommentsKevin Evans and David George of 360Life showed their true form by winning Stage 6 of this year’s Absa Cape Epic, 6 minutes and 44,5 seconds ahead of South African–Swiss duo, Burry Stander and Christoph Sauser of Team 36ONE-Songo-Specialized. Stage six took riders from Oak Valley back to Oak Valley over a distance of 83km with 2 200m of climbing.
Wet weather puts a spanner in the works during Epic stage 5
31 Mar 2012, written by Rory 0 CommentsStage 5 took riders from Caledon to Oak Valley in Elgin, a distance of 119km, with 2 350m of climbing. Dr. Evil had one aim on Stage five – get riders to that farmed Oak Valley single-track as soon as possible. So it was a fast, flowing start, before heading to the fynbos-lined mountain tracks. Stage 5 was again won in a sprint finish by the unbeatable South African–Swiss duo of Burry Stander and Christoph Sauser (Team 36ONE-Songo-Specialized).

Tenacity the name of the game – Evans and George move into second place overall

The Men’s category of Stage 4 of this year’s Absa Cape Epic was again won by the indomitable Burry Stander and Christoph Sauser of Team 36ONE-Songo-Specialized, in a time of 4:42.29,7 (overall 20:20.03,4). This is their fourth stage win in this year’s event. Hot on their heals were the tenacious South Africans Kevin Evans and David George of 360Life in a time of 4:43.13,2 (overall 20:45.04,6).
