Sauser adament to return to the 2011 DCM Cape Pioneer Trek in October

Like a moth not being able to resist circling a bright light or a woman not being able to resist eating chocolates, Christoph Sauser (Specialized) has a compulsion to participate in the DCM Cape Pioneer Trek in the Klein Karoo.

Being the current world marathon mountain-bike champion, Sauser could well have taken a well-deserved break from cycling in October, but that will not be the case.

High Hopes for BMX Team Ahead of Worlds

With little over a week to go before the start of the UCI BMX World Championships in Denmark, the prospects are looking good for South Africa’s team riders to achieve top results.

Taking place in Copenhagen from the 25th to 31st July 2011, the World Championships is expected to draw close on 2000 competitors in the challenge classes, attracting many of the top European contenders – all of them vying for the prestigious Wold Championship title.

Cadel Evans wins Tour de France, Cavendish wins final stage

Cadel Evans sealed victory in the 2011 Tour de France after a trouble-free final stage to Paris that saw Mark Cavendish take his third consecutive sprint win on the Champs-Élysées.

In the finishing sprint, Cavendish enjoyed a fine lead-out from his HTC-Highroad squad across the Place de la Concorde.

Tour de France Stage 20 highlights and Stage 21 preview

Cadel Evans is set to become the first Australian winner of the Tour de France after overcoming his overnight deficit to Andy Schleck in the penultimate stage time trial Saturday.

BMC leader Evans started the 42.5km race against the clock with a 57-second deficit to Schleck in the overall standings but easily erased that on his way to second place behind stage winner Tony Martin of Germany. Last years winner Alberto Contador had a strong ride for third in the stage.

Tour de France Stage 19 highlights and Stage 20 preview

Frenchman Pierre Rolland of the Europcar team won the 19th stage of the Tour de France, a 109.5 km ride from Modane to the summit of Alpe d’Huez on Friday.

Luxembourg’s Andy Schleck, of Leopard-Trek, took possession of the yellow jersey from Frenchman Thomas Voeckler, who lost over two minutes on the final climb of the race.
