Michael Rasmussen comeback
19 Jan 2010, written by Rory 2 CommentsRenowned Danish climbing specialist Michael Rasmussen, who was forced out of the 2007 Tour de France while wearing the yellow jersey makes a less than ideal comeback to racing this week in Argentina’s Tour de San Luís with the modest Italian Miche Silver Cross team.
Rasmussen, now 35, was hoping for a warmer welcome in his return to the pro ranks following his controversial two-year racing ban last summer, but said he’s found top teams cautious about signing him.
Evans wins tough Attakwas Ultra Marathon
19 Jan 2010, written by Rory 2 CommentsThis weekend saw the first leg of the MTN Ultra Marathon series taking place in Oudtshoorn. Going into its 4th year, the Attakwas is no doubt a fitting start to this series. Word on the street is that this 137km race which is extremely technical is the hardest one day offroad event in the country.
Conditions on the morning were perfect, and a record number of entries saw batches leaving from the Chandelier Game farm, to start the first part of the race in the reserve. There was star studded field with a couple guys eager to turn the pace up from the beginning.
Team Sky dominate Cancer Council Helpline Classic
18 Jan 2010, written by Rory 0 CommentsYestersday’s Cancer Council Helpline Classic that was raced in Adelaide culminated in a furious sprint finish which was unexpectedly won by Greg Henderson of Team Sky, who in a downhill run to the line managed to outsprint a classy field that included top sprinters Baden Cooke, Robbie McEwen, Gert Steegmans, Robert Förster, Robbie Hunter, Jonathan Cantwell and Allan Davis to name a few. Lance Armstrong had a strong showing when he jumped into a five-man move.
Armstrong – Twitter ride chaos
17 Jan 2010, written by Rory 0 CommentsRoughly 5000 cyclists joined Lance Armstrong and Robbie McEwen on Saturday for an impromptu ride announced on Twitter, causing chaotic scenes.
Armstrong, who has organised similar events in Los Angeles, Glasgow and Dublin, was staggered by the reaction after he used Twitter to invite the public to “come one, come all.”
Tokai – Silvermine – Noordhoek peak ride

With the mercury hitting 30 deg there is no better ride to do than the one starting in Tokai and heading across to the Silvermine dam for a well deserved swim. If you are feeling fresh enough you can take on the super steep Noordhoek peak, a climb that takes 20-30 min. You are rewarded with amazing 360 deg views of the Southern Peninsula as well as the cliffs of Constantiaberg. Check out our photos.

Fixie vs Lotus7

My brother, Trevor, kindly gave me his Lotus7 to use for the day, not something to sniff at. I made my choice, cruised to work somewhat quicker than usual arriving with a wicked hair style and trembling hands. Its been a long time since I have been this excited about driving a car!
