Mankele to host final round of MTB National Cup Series

The final round of the Cycling SA-MTB National Cup Series will take place at Mankele Mountain Bike Park, near Nelspruit from 22-23 June 2013.

Mpumalanga’s popular mountain biking venue is situated near the Sudwala Caves, on the outskirts of Nelspruit. Mankele has hosted many National Cup Series events since their opening, as well as a National Championship event.

The course regularly receives great feedback from competitors, who get to experience great use of natural and man-made features during the race. The cross-country track features boardwalks, bridges, river crossings, lung-bursting climbs, smooth single track and Mankele’s infamous “bush tunnels”, all within the 5,1-kilometre lap.

Downhill riders get to experience 1.8km of “adrenaline madness” on a track that includes rock gardens, berms, jumps, bridges and some really tight switch backs to test the riders’ skills.

The cross-country race has a UCI category 2 rating, which assists our riders’ UCI points tally for their UCI World Cup season rankings and for the prestigious one-off World Championship that will be hosted in Pietermaritzburg late August.

Online pre-entries close at midnight on Wednesday 19 June, so enter soon:

Late entries will be accepted at registration on Friday 21 June (09:00-16:00 for XCO and DHI) andSaturday 22 June (09:00-14:00 for DHI only).

The SA XCO and DHI Series gives riders around the country the opportunity to compete against one another in these disciplines, and provides SA Mountain Biking the chance to see the best of the best in action, and how they handle the competition on the different courses in varying conditions. This process assists SA MTB in selecting the best possible team to represent SA at the UCI MTB World Championships.
