Final World Cup XCO delivers furious racing in Windham, NY

This weekend saw the MTB Wolrd Cup circut come to an end in Windham NY. All the usual suspects were at the sharp end of the field with Jaroslav Kulhavy getting away in the last lap to take his maiden World Cup victory. In 2nd was Nino Schurter who outsprinted his team mate Florian Vogel who finished third. Nino’s second place was enough to secure him the the title of 2010 World Cup champion. South Africa’s Burry Stander finished in 8th, 1m57s off the pace after suffering a mechanical on lap 5. I am sure that he will be hoping to better this result for the World Champs in Canada next week. I have a feeling he will be on the podium at least, if not the new World XCO champion.

In the womans race it was Catharine Pendrel who won and in doing so earning herself the the title of 2010 World Cup champion. Pendrel was followed across the finish line a few seconds later by fellow Canadian Marie-Helene Premont in 2nd place. In third was Georgia Gould some two minutes back. South African Yolande Speedy finished in 35th
