Jonkershoek mountain bike trail

Jonkershoek has long been known as the THE place to ride in Stellenbosch. Unfortunately, earlier this year saw some serious fires destroying half of Jonkershoeks amazing singletrack. There are no marked routes but the singletracks are marked. There are many combinations of routes to come up with depending on how high you are willing to climb and how much time you have. Go explore, its worth it.

Oak Valley mountain bike trail

Oak Valley is situated at the base of the Groenlandberg mountain in Grabouw. There are 3 marked routes: a 14 km Green Route for the family; a 21 km Red Route for stronger riders; and the 25 km Black Route for more advanced riders. There is also a new 3km section of singletrack that has been added onto the end of the black route which is well worth riding.

Delvera – Home of Dirtopia

The Delvera trails offer riders over 6km of challenging singletrack trails. The blue intermediate route is roughly 12km long and takes riders up the slopes of the Klapmuts Hill and into a Renosterveld Conservancy. Half way up the Klamputs Hill there is an option to carry on with the more advanced Black route (shown in map and profile below). Here you climb up some steep technical switchbacks but you are rewarded with some super technical, rocky singletrack on the way down where you join back up with the blue route. This is one of the Cape’s premier singletrack destinations. Built and maintained by the same crew that is responsible for the Tokai, Lebanon, Thandi & Jonkershoek trails.

Bains MTB route – official opening

16 Nov 2009, written by Rory 1 Comments

Seems like the trail builders at Welvanpas farm have been busy building even more awesome singletrack. The official opening of the Bain’s MTB Trails is happening on the  5th of December 2009. There are 3 different routes to choose from.

The White Route is 20km long with challenging climbs and technical descents;

The Yellow Route is 17km long, with gradual climbs up the slopes of the Hawekwa Mountains, followed by 4km of sweet single track descents;

The Blue Route is 8km long, following large sections of the White Route, but without the more challenging sections of the White Route.

Check out our Welvanpas trail map and profile from the last ride we did there. It promises to be a fun filled day so get out to Wellington and enjoy the riding.

Welvanpas – Wellington singletrack heaven

Welvanpas farm is situated just outside Wellington on the foothills of Bainskoof. The farm has developed mtb specific trails which I can highly recommend. The route is split into 2 loops, the first being on the western side of the farm (7.5km) and the second on the Eastern side (4.5km). Both loops start with a challenging climb but end off with amazing singletrack.

Tokai mountain bike trail

Tokai is situated just 20km from Cape Town CBD and is the most popular mtb destination for riders living in and around Cape Town. Starting at the Arboretum, follow the long gravel road up towards the Constantiaberg radio mast. For the hardcore, this is a climb that takes anywhere between 50min to 90min (not on route map and profle below). On the way down you are thoroughly rewarded with swooping singletrack all the way back to the parking area. Check out our map, route profile and photos.
