A number of leading mountain bikers have secured their entries for the Columbia Grape Escape, the new 3-day MTB stage race taking place from 4-6 March 2011. There are only about 100 available entries left.
Top class riders include David George, Kevin Evans, Karl Platt, Christoph Sauser and Burry Stander.

So, it seems that it was too good to be true. Tour de France champion Alberto Contador has been told of his punishment for his positive drugs test from the 2010 race, the Spanish cycling federation announced on Wednesday. Spain’s sports media reported Tuesday that the rider may be suspended for one year over his positive doping test at last year’s event.

Port Elizabeth mountain biker Andrea von Holdt announced herself as a contender for The Herald VW Cycle Tour’s Extreme Challenge when she finished runner-up in the Attakwas half-marathon just outside George recently.
