The permanent Nevis Range downhill course is popular amongst the local supporters who turn out in their droves when the race visits the region each year, creating an electric atmosphere. Locals have also worked hard on the track over the past three years in particular, creating new features on the 2.8 kilometre descent. For 2013 there are some new, higher speed lines that have been developed just after the wall ride.

Minnaar has found favour with the Fort William World Cup track in previous years, winning the 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2011 events.

The World Cup weekend activities will culminate with the Finals on Sunday. Qualification takes place on Saturday afternoon, where all the competitors race to qualify for the Finals (top 80 men and top 20 women).
